As the
Process Design Engineer , you will perform complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, or techniques, and may assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment.
You will report to the Engineer Manager of the Preform Division. This position will be a hybrid opportunity and will spend time in Bakersfield, CA and Salem, OR. Salary Range: $110,000 to $145,000
Key Responsibilities - You will be directly involved in the development of manufacturing equipment and the full lifecycle processes while collaborating with other groups for new/current vehicle designs from concept through full production levels.
- Work with the design team for manufacturability standards early in the design/prototype phases.
- Develop and process designs that form the basis of high-volume production lines while continuing to lead the dimensional quality of the vehicles in production.
- Directly responsible for the dimensional quality targets while leading all activities towards this objective including the development of geometric dimension and tolerance strategies, quality control, and improvement plans.
- Participate in the line design reviews of robotic and tooling simulations, cycle time plans, and general line layout, while driving optimization towards fundamental engineering limits.
- Engage with the tooling development areas with the process plan while working with OEM vendors to buy off and deliver final products.
Qualifications - A bachelor's or master's degree in chemical or electrical engineering is required with 5 + years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with high-speed manufacturing lines with a high level of automation.
- Experience working with line vendors to design and approve layouts, and tooling followed by hands-on experience on the floor with the installation and commissioning process.
