About Camp Fire Sandusky County

Camp Fire Sandusky County is a 95-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through nature-based programs, leadership development, and community service. Located on a 42-acre campus along the Sandusky River, we offer year-round activities including summer camps, before- and after-school programs, team-building events, and teen leadership initiatives. Our mission is to help young people discover their "spark"—their personal purpose and passion—while fostering creativity, diversity, and respect. We welcome volunteers and interns of all ages to join us in making a positive impact!

Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Marketing Intern or Volunteer to support our efforts in promoting Camp Fire Sandusky County’s programs and events. This role is ideal for high school students, college students, adults, or retirees who are passionate about marketing, youth development, or outdoor education. The intern/volunteer will assist in raising awareness of our initiatives, engaging the community, and showcasing the unique experiences we offer. No prior marketing experience is required—we provide training and mentorship to help you grow!

Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management: Assist in creating and scheduling posts for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok to highlight camp activities, events (e.g., Incredibowl-a-Thon), and youth success stories.
  • Content Creation: Help develop engaging content, including blog posts, newsletters, or flyers about our programs (e.g., Summer Camps, Independent Living Skills, Art Camp) using photography, basic design skills, or written narratives.
  • Event Promotion: Support marketing efforts for public fundraising events and community programs, such as coordinating raffle promotions or updating event pages on our website.
  • Community Outreach: Distribute materials at local schools, libraries, or community centers in Sandusky County to attract participants and volunteers.
  • Market Research: Gather feedback from participants or community members to identify trends and improve our outreach strategies.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with updating our website (campfiresc.org), maintaining donor lists, or organizing marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Open to high school students (ages 17+), college students, adults, or retirees. No formal marketing experience needed—enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key!
  • Skills: Basic computer skills (e.g., Google Suite); familiarity with social media platforms is a plus. Interest in graphic design, photography, or writing is advantageous but not required.
  • Personal Traits: Creative, reliable, and passionate about youth development, nature, or community service. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Availability: Flexible hours, with options for in-person work at our Fremont campus or remote tasks. Ideal for after-school, weekend, or retired schedules.

Benefits

  • For High School Students: Gain volunteer hours for graduation or college applications; receive a letter of recognition upon completion.
  • For College Students: Build resume experience in marketing and nonprofit work; potential for academic credit (arranged with your institution).
  • For Adults/Retirees: Contribute to a meaningful cause, stay active in the community, and share your skills with a passionate team.
  • All: Training and mentorship from our Marketing Director, hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, and the chance to connect with nature and youth on our scenic campus.
