Position Summary
The IBCLC Lactation Consultant is a member of the nursing staff who influences quality patient care in the area of lactation and breastfeeding through an integral role as educator and consultant.
Duties of the IBCLC Lactation Consultant may include but are not limited to:
Working Conditions:
Working conditions may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids and/or tissue as well as other unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries and illness. May be exposed to and be required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency and crisis situations. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position is classified by OSHA as Category 1.
Qualifications
Required : Education: Bachelor degree required. Licensure: IBCLC Certification required ; Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Experience: Minimum of two years of lactation consultant nursing experience. Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred : Prior experience as a lactation consultant in Pediatric or Obstetrics in a tertiary center or large community center. NRP. Spanish language proficiency preferred. NICU and hospital experience preferred.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $88,000 - $125,466 Base
The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience . Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
