The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical services to children/adolescents with serious emotional disturbance receiving Child/Adult Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services including but not limited to:

• 
  Typically sees the beneficiaries for the assessment and treatment of the beneficiarys symptoms and response to medication including side effects.
• Medication prescription, administration, monitoring, and documentation
• Service coordination, including working with the Child ACT team to monitor each individuals clinical status and response to treatment
• Symptom assessment and management/Crisis assessment and intervention
• Individual counseling and psychotherapy
• Educates non-medical team members on psychiatric & non-psychiatric medications
• Regularly participates in daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings; attends daily team meetings in proportion to time allocated on team.
• The psychiatrist shall work a minimum of 16 hours per week for every 50 individuals served by the ACT team.
• Provides back up to the team as necessary while on call.

Description of Responsibilities, Requirements, and Duties:

• Overall supervision of all medical/clinical aspects of the services delivered.
• Identifying appropriate evidence-based or emerging best practices therapies to be employed by staff in delivering services.
• Consulting with primary healthcare providers/other providers on the clinical aspects of the clients being served and the implications for those clients physical healthcare needs.
• Coordinating with medical staff of other providers, e.g. state and community inpatient facilities
• Actively collaborates with nurses to develop and implement medication administration policies and procedures as well as oversee the medical care of beneficiaries that include regular screenings for medical conditions and assessment of wellness and health management.
• Provide any written documentation as required.

Requirements/Education:

• Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant/Psychiatrist
• Medical degree from an accredited University.
• Board eligible or Board certified in psychiatry.
• Three years of clinical practice experience in treating children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance.
• Currently licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
